Meet Our Directors

Tony Cox

Tony Cox

Band Director

Originally from Rossville, Georgia, Tony Cox received his BA in Music Industry from Middle Tennessee University and his MM in Music Education from East Carolina University. He has previously directed at East Carolina University and has spent numerous years consulting band programs from all over. Tony has also graciously served on the SCGC board for 20 years. The number of students who have studied and performed under Tony’s 30 years as the director of the Band of Gold are too numerous to count. Students leave the program with a solid music foundation and a love of music. Many students have gone on to leave a lasting legacy in the world of music and pageantry arts. In Tony’s spare time you can find him performing with Nashville’s very own Moonlighters Big Band, visiting Disney World, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, Las Vega Raiders, LA Lakers or UT Vols, and hanging out with his all-time favorites Kathryn, Rollo, and Sophia.
